Since 2021, prices for socially important food products in Kazakhstan have increased by 2.6% annually and 13.2% overall. The highest price increases were seen in import-dependent products, goods with high export demand, and off-season vegetables. The most significant price growth of 3.3% was recorded in the West Kazakhstan region and in Shymkent. The Ministry of Agriculture and regional executive bodies are called upon to boost production to reduce these price hikes. The price collusion of large egg producers has also been reported by the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition.
