Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture issues six-month potato export ban

A ban on potato exports was implemented by Kazakhstan on January 28, 2025, to stabilize the domestic market and prevent price increases due to a sharp rise in demand from neighboring countries. In 2024, Kazakhstan exported approximately 605,000 tons of potatoes, marking a significant increase from the previous year. The ban, effective for six months, prohibits the transportation of potatoes abroad, with a few exceptions for member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
