The kiwi harvest has commenced in the Geyikli neighborhood of the Şalpazarı district in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, located at the base of Sis Mountain. Local producers are pleased with the harvest this year and see kiwi cultivation as an alternative to hazelnuts, with a high economic return and market potential. Retired teacher Abidin Şengül is among the producers, seeing it as a significant economic contribution to the district. The kiwi fruits are grown organically with support from the District Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate.
