Producers in Trabzon who have converted their hazelnut orchards into kiwi orchards have begun harvesting kiwis. The producers stated that kiwis bring in much more income than hazelnuts, and while this year's kiwi production yield was slightly lower compared to the Yalova region, they were still satisfied with the harvest, especially since the codling moth pest did not affect their orchards. The producers also noted that Iranian kiwis, being cheaper, are preferred by large traders. Mustafa Köroğlu, a kiwi producer in Yeniköy Mahallesi, Ortahisar district, noted that they faced market difficulties this year due to Iranian kiwis.
