In the first half of 2022, Peruvian kiwicha exports saw a significant increase, with a total of 701 tons valued at US$1.3 million, marking a fourfold increase in volume and a tripling in value compared to the same period in the previous year. The average market price, however, decreased by 32% to US$ 1.79 per kilogram. Germany emerged as the leading destination with a 48% share, followed by the United States with 20% and Argentina with 10%. Kiwicha exports to Germany saw a substantial increase, with a volume of 347 tons and a value of US$600,000, while exports to the United States also rose, with a volume of 120 tons and a value of US$200,000. The price quoted in these markets was lower than the previous year, with Germany's price at US$1.72 per kilogram, the United States' price at US$ 2.07 per kilogram, and Argentina's price at US$ 1.45 per kilogram.
