In 2022, Peru's kiwicha remittances have seen a significant increase in both volume and value to their main destination, Germany, reaching 347 tons valued at US$600,000, a 69-fold increase in volume and 51-times increase in value compared to the previous year. The price per kilogram in the German market decreased by 26% compared to 2021. The United States also became a significant market for Peruvian kiwicha, with shipments quadrupling in volume and tripling in value, reaching 120 tons for US$200,000. Argentina emerged as a new top market, with imports of 89 tons valued at US$100,000, as shipments to Brazil decreased by 4% in volume and 26% in value. The average price per kilogram in the Argentine market was US$1.45.
