The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in Indonesia is aiming for national shrimp production to reach 2 million tons by 2024. To achieve this, they plan to develop modern shrimp farming areas, starting in Kebumen Regency, Central Java. The project will use integrated modern shrimp ponds and Good Aquaculture Practices, with the first pond expected to yield around 40 tons per hectare per cycle. The initiative aims to benefit the local community, generate non-tax state revenue, and have a positive environmental impact. The project has received support and funding, with construction expected to begin later in 2021.
