[Korean Farmers and Fisherfolk Newspaper, Reporter U Jeong-soo] The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced that it will purchase an additional 4,000 tons of summer cabbage, following the procurement of 15,000 tons of spring cabbage, in order to prepare for supply uncertainties caused by summer heatwaves and heavy rains. According to aT, the purchase of summer cabbage will be carried out from this month (August) primarily in highland cabbage-producing areas such as Pyeongchang, Jeongseon, and Gangneung in Gangwon Province. The specific schedule and volume of the purchase will be adjusted flexibly based on the growth status of cabbage and the harvest period in each producing area. aT plans to supply the secured stockpile to the market in a timely manner during future supply uncertainties to support price stability.
