The Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has mandated that Vietnamese chili exports to Korea must be accompanied by drug residue test results, to be conducted in laboratories approved by the Ministry. Eight laboratories, including six in various regions of Vietnam and two independent laboratories, have been approved for this purpose. This requirement is effective from March 31, 2023, until the end of March 2024. Korea is the third largest export market for Vietnam, with the export turnover reaching 3.79 billion USD in the first two months of 2023. Vietnam exported about 4,900 tons of chili in 2022, generating an income of 11.9 million USD.
