5.1.2 The octopus in Soho inhabits or spawns in shallow waters with sandy bottoms, hiding in shells similar to those of razor clams. Utilizing this habit, razor clam shells are attached at regular intervals to a line and cast, catching the octopus that enters them. Recently, artificial razor clam shells are used. Holes are made in the entrance of the razor clam shells, and thin threads with a diameter of 2-4mm are sewn through, connecting them to a main line with a diameter of 8-12mm at intervals of about 70-100cm. When arriving at the fishing ground during the right season, the gear already cast is retrieved using a side drum.
