On October 13, 2025, the website agroinvestor.ru published an article titled "Quota for the import of sugar beet seeds may be reduced." One of the authoritative sources in the sugar beet industry, who requested anonymity, noted among other things that prices for imported sugar beet seeds have risen sharply over the last two years; for example, the cost of KWS seeds increased more than twofold, from 112 euros to 300 euros per sowing unit.
KWS has contacted the editorial office and reported that this information is not accurate. From the 2022/23 year to the 2024/25 year, the average cost of classical hybrid sugar beet seeds increased by 24%, "incorrect information misleads market participants," it is noted in their letter.
