Kyrgyzstan has a long-standing agreement to export cherries to China, which requires cold treatment or fumigation. In 2019, Kyrgyzstan's cherry exports to China reached their highest level, but were suspended due to the epidemic in 2022. Currently, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, and Australia are the main suppliers of cherries to China in the off-season. In contrast, the United States and Canada are the main suppliers of cherries to China during their season. Recently, Kyrgyz suppliers met with Chinese companies to discuss potential negotiations and logistics requirements for exporting cherries. Both parties expressed interest in further discussions.
