Chile has shipped its first batch of salmon to Australia, a milestone event marking the beginning of Chilean product exports to the country. The shipment, containing 220 kilograms of fresh refrigerated salmon fillet, was transported by LATAM Cargo Group and was made possible after a thorough audit process led by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) and ProChile, with the support of the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). This event is seen as a significant opportunity for Chile to further establish its quality and excellence in the Australian market and to diversify its export markets. Currently, Chile exports salmon to 76 countries, with the United States, Brazil, Russia, China, and the European Union being its main destinations, and its salmon exports exceeded US$6 billion in 2023.
