The annual U.S. Rice Domestic Usage Report by USA Rice for the period August 2022 to July 2023 introduces rice flour as a new category for industrial food processors and provides consumer research data on rice consumption. The report reveals that about 60% of U.S. rice shipments were consumed domestically, with retail and foodservice industries being the main users. Despite the pandemic, domestic consumption of U.S. milled rice grew by 3%, and exported rice consumption grew by 6%. The per capita consumption of U.S. milled rice has risen by 12% over the past 10 years, indicating market stabilization post-pandemic. The report is available for free to USA Rice members who have participated in data collection, or for a reduced fee of $250 for non-members.
