Despite the pandemic, several Latin American countries have managed to expand their agricultural exports, as shown by a survey by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). The survey found an 8.5% growth in agricultural exports in April compared to the previous year, totaling US $ 21.2 billion, or 22.3% of the global total. Countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, Bolivia, and Guatemala saw significant increases in exports, while Peru and Uruguay experienced declines. Brazil's agricultural exports alone grew by 28.9% in April, primarily driven by soy and meat. Other countries also saw increases in May, with only a few experiencing declines.
