The European Union (EU) is facing a challenge in Latin America's agricultural export market, particularly due to its shift towards China and the impact of US tariffs. Despite Spain's lower agri-food exports to Latin America compared to Asia and North America, the region offers opportunities for value-added and Denomination of Origin products. The behavior of Latin American agricultural exports during the pandemic has been remarkable, with notable growth in trade, especially from Brazil. EU-Latin America food trade data for January to April shows a slight increase, with Brazil seeing a 2.7% growth in imports. In 2019, the EU imported over 31 million euros worth of food from Latin America, mainly from Brazil.
