Latin American agricultural exports experienced an 8.5% increase in April compared to the previous year, as total exports for the region dropped by 29.9%. This trend is expected to continue into May, with preliminary data showing an 11.1% rise in agricultural exports in May while total goods exports decreased by 15.7%. The highest increases in agricultural exports were seen in Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, Bolivia, and Guatemala, with the most significant growth in soybeans, sugar, beef, and pork. However, exports from Peru and Uruguay saw significant decreases. The growth in agricultural exports is seen as a key driver of economic recovery in the region.
