The first Antarctic Sea Patagonian toothfish (Merluccius polylepis) dedicated fishing vessel in the country held its launch ceremony (photo). Built by Jeongil Industry (Chairman Park Cheol-woong) under the 'Deep-sea Fishing Vessel Safety Fund Project', the first special ocean-going vessel in the country, the 'SAE IN LEE', held its launch ceremony at Asia Shipbuilding in Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, marking a new beginning. The SAE IN LEE is a 1,500-ton class Patagonian toothfish fishing vessel with a total length of 64 meters, a width of 11.6 meters, a depth of 6.9 meters, a maximum speed of 13.5 knots, and a main engine of 2,000 horsepower, enabling long-term operations in the Antarctic Sea and adjacent deep seas with depths of 1,000 to 2,500 meters for residence and safety.
