Lemon exports show growth in volume and decline in value so far in 2025

The 2025 campaign for Peruvian lemons shows contrasting results. As of August this year, the country exported 78,501 tons of the citrus fruit, which represents a 19% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2024. However, despite this greater dynamism, the export value fell by 17%, totaling around $134 million, according to FreshFruit data. The average price fell by 30% compared to the previous year, standing at $1.71 per kilogram, mainly due to low prices in the United States, where the abundant domestic campaign pressured the market. Among the varieties that Peru sends for export are the Tahiti lime, Eureka lemon, and Sutil lemon. The Tahiti lime has been a key driver of growth, with prospects of exceeding 50,000 tons in 2025 thanks to high productivity in Piura and the entry of new areas into production.
