Russia: Leningrad region mushrooms production

The Russian government has marked the Leningrad region among the leaders in the production of cultivated mushrooms. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in 2020 the production of cultivated mushrooms in Russia reached 86.3 thousand tons. Of these, 6.1% of champignons were grown in the Leningrad region - this is the fifth place among Russian regions. Last year, the region's farms grew 5.3 thousand tons of champignons, which is 3 times more than in 2019, the plans for 2021 are the production of 8.5 thousand tons. Three enterprises are engaged in mushroom production in the Leningrad Region. The growth in production was due to the launch of a greenhouse complex at the Vyborzhets agricultural company for year-round industrial production of cultivated mushrooms.
