FranceAgriMer's projections for the 2023/24 marketing year reveal a decline in French wheat exports by 63,000 tons, attributed mainly to decreased competitiveness in North Africa, particularly Algeria, resulting in a 28% fall in exports to the region. Conversely, wheat exports to the EU are on the rise, with notable increases to Benelux, Germany, and Ireland, though exports to Portugal have decreased. This downturn in wheat exportation is expected to lead to a 48% surge in end-of-campaign wheat stocks. On the other hand, barley exports are experiencing a boost, especially to China, increasing by 200,000 tons, despite a minor drop in exports to EU countries. Corn exports are also seeing an uptick, fueled by heightened demand from southern Europe, the UK, and Switzerland, with projections indicating a 41% increase in end-of-campaign corn stocks.
