The Corrientes Nationals livestock event in Paraguay has seen over 1,000 breeders participating with a particular focus on the Hampshire Down breed. Laura Mendoza, president of the Hampshire Down Breeders Association, noted the presence of high-quality animals in the competition and is looking to import superior specimens to enhance local genetics. Despite challenges in importing due to health issues, there are plans to establish a shed for the Hampshire and Texel breeds at the International Expo, aiming to improve meat quality and marketing. However, the current number of bellies available does not meet the standards for a robust meat market.
