Background and Future Plans (1) Following the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (the eighth case in Japan this season) at a poultry farm in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido on November 12, 2024, Hokkaido established a movement restriction area (within a 3km radius of the outbreak farm) and an export restriction area (area between a 3km and 10km radius of the outbreak farm) in accordance with the Livestock Infectious Diseases Prevention Act. (2) On November 28, 2024, Hokkaido lifted the export restrictions set for the area between a 3km and 10km radius of the outbreak farm.
