Last summer's seed potato harvest in Switzerland was poor, and there is a shortage of native plants for the 2024 campaign, with almost a third less availability than recent years. The situation is also difficult on the European market, making it unlikely that the missing quantity in Switzerland will be compensated for. Flexibility is required from all stakeholders, and measures are being taken to make the best use of the available plants, including distributing remaining quantities to other farms and determining the number of tubers per 100 kg for optimal distribution over the surfaces.
