Thailand's Department of Livestock Development is taking measures to control the outbreak of 'Lumbini Skin' disease in cattle and buffalo, including surveillance and prevention. The department has also temporarily halted the importation of cattle or buffalo carcasses from Myanmar due to an outbreak of the disease there. The department also assured that no cows with the disease are being sold. Farmers with questions or in need of aid can contact the Bureau of Animal Disease Control and Treatment. The department is also conducting a 'Kick-off' campaign to prevent and eliminate Lumbini Skin Disease, which includes mobile veterinary units and the distribution of insecticides to farmers, and is expected to be completed by 31 May 2021.
