Garlic growers from the Tomsk region in Russia are planning to plant at least 10 hectares of garlic this year in an effort to reduce the reliance on imported garlic from China. The cooperative of farmers has studied the industrial cultivation techniques used in other regions of Russia and has invested in mechanized equipment to increase production. They also plan to launch an online platform to sell garlic planting material, the final product, and agricultural equipment, with a focus on supplying processors such as sausage producers and food manufacturers.
