December Russian shelling of Odesa ports has significantly complicated the export of agricultural products from Ukraine, which could significantly reduce trade volumes, even despite the redirection of shipments to the railway, reports Reuters citing data from Ukrainian associations. According to the Ukrainian Agrarian Club (UAC), as of December 22, only 375,000 tons of wheat had been exported out of the 1 million tons contracted for shipment in December. Corn shipments totaled 1.5 million tons out of the 2 million tons contracted, and sunflower oil shipments totaled 275,000 tons out of the 410,000 tons contracted, with total exports in December likely not exceeding 350,000 tons. "Some traders have defaulted (on wheat supplies), while others are moving contracts to January due to the low throughput capacity of the ports," the UAC notes.
