Logistics and climate pressure peach harvest in RS

The peach harvest in Rio Grande do Sul is facing logistical obstacles and production losses at the beginning of summer. According to the Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Thursday (1), the administrative region of Pelotas is experiencing the peak of the harvest, but producers are dealing with prolonged queues for unloading at the industries, in addition to the limitation in the supply of boxes. The climatic conditions, marked by high temperatures and high relative humidity, have favored the occurrence of brown rot, causing significant fruit losses. The industries report difficulties in increasing the processing pace due to the shortage of labor.
