Hungary has experienced a significant decrease in live cattle and beef exports in 2023, with a 16% and 17% drop respectively, compared to the previous year. At the same time, imports have surged by 33%. The producer price of slaughter cattle has hit a record low, with young bulls' price only 2% higher than at the start of the year, while the price of slaughter heifers and cows has fallen by 13% and 29% respectively. Additionally, the number of cattle slaughtered in 2023 has decreased by nearly 10% compared to 2022.
