Raspberry growers in Serbia have started protesting against the low purchase price of their produce, which they say only covers the cost of harvesting. The protests, which have involved blocking roads and symbolically pouring fruit on them, were held in the main production areas of the country. Trade unions are calling for a price of 350 dinars (PLN 13.40/kg) instead of the 150 dinars proposed by freezers, and are also criticizing the processing industry for making excessive profits. They are also urging the state to limit imports and are concerned about the impact of weather conditions on the harvest.
