The area of gray podzolic forest soils is the third area out of a total of 11 into which the country is divided according to the agroecological map developed by the specialists from the Institute of Soil Science, Agrotechnology, and Plant Protection "Nikola Pushkarov". The third agroecological region covers the strip along the main ridge of Stara Planina, which starts from the border with Serbia and extends to the Eastern Pre-Balkan. These are the Berkovtsi, Botevgrad-Gabrovo, and Elena-Smyadovo districts. Agroecological map: What are the top crops for the chernozem region? The quality of the land in this group of regions is very close. The total productive capacity (SAB) is within the range of 41-46 points, and for the group as a whole, 43 points, which places them in the third quality group – "medium-good lands."
