The price of Russian snow crab has significantly dropped to around 30,000 won per kg, as reported by the Mermaid Bridge Pirates, an expert seafood platform. This decline is attributed to Russia's full-scale fishing operation, which has led to a surge in supply amidst the usual supply shortage during the winter fishing season in high-latitude areas like Sakhalin, Magadan, and the Tatar Strait. The current price drop follows a trend where snow crab prices are at their lowest from May to July, only to rise due to increased demand in the fall and winter. The Mermaid Bridge Pirates suggest that further price drops are unlikely, as Russian fishing boats may cease operations if the selling price falls below a certain point.
