The Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture (LWK) has reported a surge in the cultivation of grain legumes in Lower Saxony, with a notable increase in the area under bean and pea cultivation. The rise in cultivation is attributed to improved marketing conditions and the benefits of crop rotation. The LWK has conducted state variety trials to evaluate the performance of ten broad bean and seven pea varieties, identifying high-yielding and stable ones like Macho, Stella, Daisy, Orchestra, Astronaut, and Symbios. These trials aim to guide farmers in selecting suitable varieties for different soils, with a focus on reducing crop losses and improving overall yield.
