The Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development is committed to supporting climate-smart agriculture incentive policies in Malaysia

KUCHING: The Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) is committed to supporting the policy of incentivizing climate-smart agriculture including coffee growers. Its minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said, it is because such government policies will play an important role in promoting sustainable coffee production. “Many smallholders lack access to the capital needed to invest in new technologies and practices. "We need financial solutions that support adaptation, including affordable loans, micro-financing options and public-private partnerships," he said. He said this through the text of his speech which was read by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil in conjunction with the opening of the Coffee and Climate Change Workshop in Southeast Asia here today.
