The Maharashtra state fisheries department conducted a session for its officials on the international trade of tilapia and its current status in India. The session was led by Amod Ashok Salgaonkar, COO of A2S2 Enterprises, and aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of global tilapia production, international trade dynamics, India's export statistics, and the domestic market. The government of Maharashtra is prioritizing the scaling of tilapia production through the Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampada Yojana scheme. The US market import trade of tilapia reached 612 million USD from January-October 2022, and holding the logo of the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certificate from the Global Seafood Alliance can enhance tilapia product sales in the US market.
