Malawi is facing severe agricultural impacts due to the El Niño phenomenon, which has led to declines in food production and affected over 9 million people. The President declared a state of disaster in 23 out of 28 districts, with the Food and Agriculture Organization receiving support from the Government of Belgium to provide emergency cash-based assistance and climate resilience training to vulnerable farming households in the most affected areas. This initiative aims to support 13,500 people in meeting basic food needs and restoring agricultural production.
