Malawi's Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale, has emphasized the importance of agriculture in generating foreign exchange and the government's commitment to supporting agricultural activities. The government is investing in a K56 million advanced rice processing machine, funded by the Agricultural Commercialisation (AGCOM) Project, to increase productivity and move towards locally produced products for local shelves and potential export. Despite challenges like electricity needs, plans are in place for subsidized electricity and duty-free solar equipment importation. The Minister also emphasized the significance of research in agricultural success and addressed challenges at the Lunyagwa Agricultural Research Station in Mzuzu.
