Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tran Thanh Nam, has raised concerns about the potential loss of the Vietnamese durian market in China to Malaysia. He stressed the importance of building and protecting the Vietnamese durian brand, with a focus on establishing control standards. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association is set to organize a workshop to address this issue. The Association's General Secretary, Dang Phuc Nguyen, anticipates that durian exports could surpass $3 billion by 2024 and has suggested strict control measures for substandard and young durians, as well as the creation of export regulations and standards.
