Due to the El Nino phenomenon, Malaysia has experienced continuous hot weather since November 11 last year, significantly impacting durian production. Brighthill Synergy, a durian production and retail company, has reported a 50% increase in the flowering of durian trees, anticipating higher yields for the upcoming season from March to August. The heat is expected to improve the durians' aroma, flavor, color, and taste by enhancing nutrient and fertilizer absorption. However, there's a concern that drought could harm the flowers before they fruit, posing a challenge for farmers to ensure adequate water supply to maintain durian quality.
