According to the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, the federal government plans to invest approximately RM 1.4 billion in its initiative to rejuvenate oil palm plantations as part of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). The initiative, set to be implemented over the next five years, aims to strengthen Malaysia's position as the world's leading producer of palm oil. "The 13th Parliament debates will begin on Monday (4 August), allowing Members of Parliament to express their views," Johari explained. "As for the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, the government is making a clear focus on intensifying efforts to replant trees among smallholders." He stated that RM 1.4 billion will be gradually allocated over five years to encourage smallholders, especially those with aging trees, to replant.
