Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ahmad Hamzah, has announced that durian prices are expected to double this year due to a 50% reduction in production caused by poor weather and pests, as well as increased operating costs and fertilizer prices from the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The production season is projected to be shortened and export volumes reduced. The price of the black thorn durian is predicted to exceed RM100/kg, and the Musang King variety is expected to reach RM60-80/kg, a significant increase from previous years.
