The mango harvest has commenced in Alanya, Antalya's tropical fruit production hub in southern Turkey, marking the start of the mango season which usually lasts from August to January. The area under mango cultivation is expanding annually, with about 2,000 acres currently dedicated to the crop. The process of mango production is challenging and requires significant resources and care, including pruning and the use of plant protection and nutrition products. The Alanya Chamber of Agriculture is encouraging consumer support for domestic mango production due to the fruit's superior taste and aroma compared to imported varieties. They are also seeking state support to offset the high costs of mango production and to protect local producers from imported mangoes.
