Vietnam's coffee exports in the third quarter of 2024 reached 212,926 tons, valued at 1.12 billion USD, marking a 12.9% decrease in volume but a 52.6% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023. The country's coffee export turnover exceeded 4.24 billion USD, setting a new record despite a decrease in output. This growth is primarily due to a sharp increase in prices, with the average price reaching 5,469 USD/ton in September, the highest ever. The global demand for robusta coffee, especially in the European Union, has also contributed to the price increase. However, harsh climate conditions and reduced coffee growing areas have resulted in a decrease in harvest by about 10-15% in the 2023-2024 crop year.
