Since August 2022, bird flu outbreaks have been occurring across Europe, with France seeing the most impact. The country has recorded 270 outbreaks, primarily on meat duck farms, with the Vendee region being the most affected. In response, France has implemented preventive measures including culling ducks and turkeys in certain zones around the outbreaks. Experimental vaccinations for meat ducks are also being tested in France, with plans to start vaccination in the autumn if successful. Other countries like Germany, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Denmark, and Spain are also grappling with bird flu outbreaks.
