Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the approval of lemons and pomelos for export from Vietnam to New Zealand, during her visit to the country. This makes grapefruit and lemons the fourth and fifth most likely export fruits of Vietnam to New Zealand, following mango, dragon fruit, and rambutan. The move is part of the New Zealand-Vietnam strategic partnership action plan, which aims to foster growth in two-way trade. Both countries share an efficient food production system and consider agriculture a key area of cooperation, with trade in agriculture, forestry, and fishery reaching nearly 550 million USD last year, which accounted for 41% of the total bilateral trade turnover.
