Argentina: Mar del Plata reduced fishing landings by 26%

Mar del Plata continues to be the main port when it comes to accounting for declared fishing landings and almost triples the number of the next in the ranking, but its figures are getting smaller and the decrease in the raw material that reaches its docks suffers the entire production chain tied to processing. According to official figures from the Undersecretary of Fisheries as of June 28, 150,119 tons of different species of marine origin were recorded at the local maritime terminal. The figure represents 26% less than in the interannual comparison. Last year for this date, landings of 201,773 tons had been declared. The overall numbers of landings in all seaports show a decline dragged down by the regular squid harvest, although it is a less intense red than that shown by Mar del Plata.
