Igor Karavaev, chairman of the Association of Retail Trade Companies (AKORT) in Russia, has forecasted that the cherry market will see higher prices and a larger share of imported cherries due to May frosts and bad weather conditions. The price fluctuations for other seasonal berries and stone fruits will largely depend on the weather. The peach and nectarine season has started earlier and seen a 20% decrease in price compared to last year, while Turkish apricots are more expensive due to smaller volumes. Imported apples and pears have been dominating retail chains since the start of the year, primarily from Turkey, China, Moldova, Chile, South Africa, Serbia, Lebanon, Argentina, and Brazil.
