Russian meat exports have seen a significant increase of 17% in the first nine months of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, reaching 517 thousand tons. There has been a notable rise in the export of lamb and goat meat, which has increased tenfold, from 91 tons in 2021 to 912 tons in 2022. Additionally, there has been an increase in the export of beef, pork, and poultry meat. China is the leading importer of Russian poultry meat, followed by Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, while Belarus is the leading importer of Russian pork. However, there has been a decrease in pork exports to Vietnam due to increased logistics costs. Russia is struggling to meet the demand for beef exports and faces challenges in maintaining supplies due to mandatory vaccinations for manufacturers. Despite these challenges, Russian meat products are in high demand and Rosselkhoznadzor is working to open new markets for Russian exporters.
