Brazilian melon exports in January saw a 23% decrease compared to December and a 6% decrease year-on-year, totaling 32,000 tons. This decline is attributed to the end of the 2022/23 harvest in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará, and the influx of melons from Central American countries like Honduras, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. The total export volume from August 2022 to January 2023 was 159,000 tons, marking a 22% decrease from the previous period, largely due to a reduction in the national planted area, logistical issues, and the European crisis.
