The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico has signed a memorandum of understanding on agricultural research with the Center for Research and Innovation of Belize. This collaboration will involve sharing methodologies and technologies to enhance the productivity of various crops in Belize, benefiting producers and consumers in both countries. The agreement is part of Mexico's strategy to strengthen ties with Central American nations and marks the most significant agri-food relationship with Belize, focusing on small-scale products and trade. The partnership will also explore the possibility of creating a high-yield soybean co-investment program, potentially supplying the Yucatan peninsula and diversifying Belize's agriculture in the northern region while providing an alternative grain supply for the Mexican market.
